NDIS Support Coordination in Sydney — 2026
Support Coordination is one of the most valuable — and most misunderstood — parts of an NDIS plan. Done well, it’s the difference between a plan that sits unused and one that actively moves you toward your goals.
SADC Disability Services provides Support Coordination and Specialist Support Coordination for NDIS participants across Greater Western Sydney, including Parramatta, Liverpool, Fairfield, Campbelltown, and Canterbury-Bankstown.
What Is Support Coordination?
Support Coordination is a Capacity Building support that helps you:
- Understand your NDIS plan — What each category funds and how to use it
- Connect with providers — Find, compare, and engage the right services for your needs
- Set up service agreements — Review contracts and ensure terms are fair and appropriate
- Coordinate your supports — Ensure all your providers are working together toward your goals
- Prepare for plan reviews — Document progress, identify changing needs, and build a strong case for your next plan
- Resolve issues — Address problems with providers or navigate complex situations
Support Coordination is funded under Capacity Building — Support Coordination in your NDIS plan.
Support Coordination vs. Specialist Support Coordination
| Feature | Support Coordination | Specialist Support Coordination |
|---|---|---|
| Complexity | Standard plan navigation | Complex, high-risk situations |
| Who needs it | Most participants | Participants with complex needs, crisis, or multiple providers |
| NDIS funding category | Capacity Building | Capacity Building (higher rate) |
| Examples | Finding therapists, connecting with community groups | Crisis management, justice system, complex housing, restrictive practices |
SADC offers both levels. Our Specialist Support Coordinators have backgrounds in social work, allied health, and complex case management.
2026 Update: Support Coordination Under the New NDIS Framework
The NDIS Amendment (Getting the NDIS Back on Track No. 1) Act 2024 and the ongoing review of NDIS supports has impacted how Support Coordination is funded and defined:
- The NDIA is moving toward a Support Needs Assessment model — how much Support Coordination you receive is increasingly tied to your assessed functional needs
- Specialist Support Coordination remains available for participants with complex circumstances
- Support Coordinators are expected to build participant capacity to self-direct over time — the goal is increasing independence, not creating dependency

What SADC’s Support Coordinators Actually Do
Our coordinators don’t just hand you a list of providers. They:
- Meet you in person — either at home or at a mutually convenient location in Western Sydney
- Map your goals — What do you want to achieve in the next 12 months?
- Research your options — We know the local provider landscape across Parramatta, Liverpool, Fairfield, and Campbelltown
- Review service agreements — Spot unfair terms, unrealistic promises, or gaps in coverage
- Attend planning meetings — Advocate for appropriate funding on your behalf
- Communicate with your providers — Regular check-ins to ensure services are being delivered as agreed
- Prepare review documentation — Reports that clearly demonstrate your progress and justify future funding
Who Benefits Most from Support Coordination?
- New NDIS participants — Navigating the scheme for the first time
- Participants with complex needs — Multiple providers, multiple support categories, or complex living arrangements
- Families supporting a child or adult — Particularly where family members are absorbing coordination tasks they shouldn’t have to
- Participants approaching a plan review — Especially if previous plans were underfunded
- Participants in crisis — Housing instability, safeguarding concerns, provider breakdown
